Maurice Benzaquen
Maurice is called to the Bar of Ontario and Admitted to the Bar of New York State. He obtained his Bachelor of Science (Summa Cum Laude) from Touro College (New York) and his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School.
At Osgoode, Maurice was the Editor-in-Chief of the Osgoode Hall Student Law Review and received the Student Honour Award at Commencement.
Maurice completed his articles with high profile criminal defense lawyer, Edward L. Greenspan Q.C. He has worked with His Honour Justice Then and His Honour Justice Ewaschuk of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Maurice has worked on the Walkerton Inquiry for the Ontario Clean Water Agency. He has acted as Counsel for Members of the House of Commons. He has defended solicitor's negligence claims for the Lawyer's Professional Indemnity Corporation. He has defended a pharmaceutical Manufacturer in products liability litigation.
He has practiced plaintiff and defense personal injury and defense property damage litigation. He has acted as Coverage Counsel for foreign and domestic insurers and reinsurers. He has practiced as In-House Counsel for one of Ontario’s top three insurers in cases involving motor vehicle accidents, accident benefit disputes, slip and fall accidents, boating accidents, homeowner’s liability claims and disputes between insurers.
Maurice has lectured to Insurance Adjusters across Ontario on issues pertaining to the law as it applies to lawsuits and arbitrations involving personal injury and accident benefit claims.
Maurice has prepared matters and/or appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada as well as an array of Administrative Tribunals. Maurice is certified as an Arbitrator by the ADR Institute of Ontario.
Maurice is fluent in Spanish and French.
Maurice currently practices all aspects of Personal Injury Litigation and Accident Benefit Claims.
