Dangerous Roads/Highways

Government agencies, including municipalities, have a responsibility to keep roads and sidewalks in an adequate state of repair. This includes ensuring that roadways are cleared of all dangers to motorists and that sidewalks are cleared of trip hazards or of ice and snow which could result in serious mishaps for pedestrians traveling along these walkways.

If you are injured as a result of the failure of a government agency to maintain its roadways or sidewalks you may be able to make a claim for compensation. You must, however, act quickly. There are strict time limits which apply to claims against government agencies, and in some cases, you must give notice to the government agency of your intention to make a claim within 7 days of the injury occurring or your right to make a claim for compensation may expire.

At Graves•Richard•Harris LLP we understand that it may be difficult to meet these onerous time limits at a time when you are recovering from serious injury. To assist during this difficult time, our experienced lawyers are prepared to meet with you at your home or hospital to ensure that your right to make a claim for compensation is protected.
